Treasury Dept Easing Sanctions Against Russia

Several Russian Organizations were sanctioned by former President Barack Obama in late December amid allegations that Russia had hacked into the United States political process.

Today, the U.S. Department of the Treasury has issued a license permitting certain transactions to resume within the Russian Federal Security Service.

GL 1 authorizes certain transactions with the Federal Security Service that are necessary and ordinarily incident to requesting certain licenses and authorizations for the importation, distribution, or use of certain information technology products in the Russian Federation

It's a small step, and one that has limits. The Treasury has stated that any of the fees must not exceed $5,000 per year.

Russian officials have denied all allegations of interference with U.S. elections.
