Over the weekend, the dead body of Maryland rapper Goonew was put on display at the Bliss Nightclub in DC during his home-going celebration and now his family is publicly commenting about the controversial act.
"For all the negatives, people probably don’t even know nothing about us. They have no idea. People just saying what they want to say and that’s fine. That’s perfectly fine. I’m pleased with how I sent my son away. I wish people would just let me grieve in peace," his mother, Patrice Morrow, shared with FOX5.
Goonew's corpse was on-stage at the nightclub wearing street clothes, sunglasses and a crown. He looked the part so much that other club goers did not realize that he was not alive.
His family has been receiving an array of comments from the internet after photos started making their way around the internet, but are unbothered by anyone else's opinions.
"We don’t care about anybody and what ya’ll have to say negative. Nobody. We don’t care," sister Ariana Morrow said. "They’re like, I know his mama wouldn’t approve of that. Yeah, she did, she was on stage with us."
Goonew, whose real name is Markelle Morrow, was shot on March 18 in the 3400 block of Walters Lane in the District Heights neighborhood. His death is still an open homicide investigation.
